::EDIT:: Voting has now ended... read on.
Hi Everyone, Just a quick note to say that public voting has now started in the Amplifier Live and Local Competition. Each day for the duration of the competition Amplifier is going to be giving one voter a ticket to the Big Day Out 06. The more times each person enters the greater their chance of winning. Also at the end of the competition 1 lucky voter will win the grand prize of 4 VIP tickets to the Big Day Out 06. The current top 7 bands are shown on the chart on the Live and Local page. This chart will update every hour so check back regularly to see how things are going. To vote for Sevenfixangel go here: www.amplifier.co.nz/liveandlocal/vote.sm?artist=18805

Hi everyone, Thanks for your participation in the Live and Local competition bought to you by Amplifier.co.nz and Jack Daniel's Old No. 7. We’re now down to the couple of weeks that will probably decide who gets to open the 2006 Big Day Out and also gets the day’s recording at York St. Christmas and New Years are going to play merry hell with the voting as people leave the office and don’t go near a computer. The bands that can keep their fan base motivated over this time will be the ones that come out looking good at the end of the competition. Anyway there is a list of current standings below so you can see where you currently are. Our band is currently 35= which ain't bad for a band who haven't started gigging Help us at least make the top 20 for some credentials Also this is a very important note. The competition rules state that each person can vote only once per day. This means that people who are putting through votes for all of their friends and colleagues in the hope that they’ll respond to the confirmation e-mail are cheating. Also setting up several e-mail accounts to vote from won’t work either. They have software in place that monitors voting patterns and the locations that votes are coming from and to date they have contacted 5 bands who have been trying to manipulate the vote (luckily us not being one of them lol). Last week we had a practise yet again at Area 51 Studios infront of an astounoshing 3 person crowd lol... was a great way to test out our current set of 25mins it turned out to be... the response from our 3 person judges? Apparently wickked with the highlights being "Roleplay" and the new song "Power of Control", and the band's current fave "Goodbye Call". Maybe another test audience after the xmas/new year holiday? Till then keep em votes comin and have a safe xmas! Hi Everyone, Thank you for being part of the Live and Local competition bought to you by Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 and Amplifier.co.nz. Voting finished on Thursday night and the final results are shown below. Congratulations to OdESSA who’ll be opening the Big Day Out as well as spending a day at York Street Recording Studios. Also further congratulations to the runners-up, Battle Circus and Tahuna Breaks, who will be receiving Amplifier.co.nz advertising packages as well as some Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 prize packs. Overall voting was admirably clean. In a few instances votes were removed that were not entered in compliance with the rules of the competition. Bands were spoken to first before this happened and in most cases it appeared to be the result of over zealous fans. The controls and software that they had in place to alert them to any dodgy voting worked very well and the competition was as clean as it possibly could have been. Amplifier will continue to refine the system in preparation for the next Live and Local. As predicted, and this is something to keep in mind for next year, the biggest factor in the result was the Christmas/New Year’s break. Several bands dropped out of the running over this time and the gaps between bands became more marked. Again thanks for being part of Live and Local and hopefully we will have your continued support for next year, especially once the band gets some gigs going. Our band did however get a special "featured band" mention in the rock section of Amplifier, seperate to the competition, which is very encouraging! The debut is nearing, with new band members who seem to have picked up where we left off immediately. With the sad news of our departing drummer, it was a gamble to find a replacement. Sometimes when members leave it takes ages to find a replacement, at times not being successful, and things dry up. Lucky enough this wasn't the case. Updates as things unfold. Once again thank you and a special congrats to Luke who won a BDO ticket for voting! Ka kite ano Final Ranking
