Today at work, I saved a kitten from the nearby creek out the back of my store.
As you can see from the diagram above, it was first heard meowing - stuck within boxes - by my manager.
Because of our "recent" breakins to our humble store, at first my wild imagination thought it was a terrorist bomb, a pre recorded voice track, out to lure unsuspecting workers!
Been watching too many movies
Turned out it was a REAL kitten, the size of my hand!
It ran off as soon as we tried to fish it out of the boxes, and ran under the rear fence, and managed to fall down a small cliff, and got itself stuck in some overgrowth by the creek.
My manager went to go and try save it, poked a stick around the overgrowth, could only hear it but not see it. He gave up pretty quickly. How pathetic.
Me to the rescue, I did a bit of an "Indiana Jones" and got right INTO the creek, at first poking around blindly with a stick but with no sign of the small kitten.
Desperate spurts of cries of the kitten were heard, with long silences between when we got close.
Poor frightened kitty thought I was hunting him eh?
After a good 15 mins, Manager was hurrying me up to get back to work and forget about it.
I was like "I'm not letting this kitty drown!" Screw that!
So desperately I began digging my fingers into the overgrowth cliffside and began pulling out lots of weeds.
After a desperate attempt, bright orange fur caught my eye, and in one big swoop I fished the kitty out! Hurrah!!!
It was pretty feral though! I had to grab it by the body to avoid major scratching!
In it went into a box, and we called SPCA afterwards!
I soooooooooooOO wanted to keep it! I just saved a kitten, and it was mine! Meant to be!
But alas - the appartment I live in bans pets!
I so sad. Look at it! It SO cute!
