her flatties come waking us up at 3 in the morn looking for jewelry.. at first we thot they were drunk thinkin "Cant they look for it in the morning?"
then we discover more and more that more stuff was missing like wallets, MD player, digital camera, and a hat! they took the damn hat damn it!
found out they went thru the bak sliding door, the lock had been tampered, and we didnt hear a thing! scary!

VERY scary Ralph!!! I'm glad noone was hurt.... Did you have an ordeal with the police questioning or anything? Was any of the stolen stuff yours? Is the g/f shaken up by it or is she okay? I had a friend with a similar experience... they actually walked past his bedroom and he feigned sleep afraid that he'd get shot or something.... they took all the electronics... and the cornstarch his mom had put in a ziplock baggie for him and he'd stored in the flour canister! ...When he determined that they were gone and he hadn't, as he'd feared, actually peed the bed, he called the police... and suggested that if anyone was hospitalized for snorting cornstarch later that evening it could be a clue ......

Well at first I was intrigued by the title... :smart:
Glad to hear you're all okay... sometimes these things don't end so well other than the loss... I hope they find these thieves quickly. You also might get your g/f some sort of an alarm system... doesn't necessarily have to be the monthly service alarm system even... might alleviate her feeling of fear and general feeling of violated creepyness... also, take a look at all the locks... if it's not a rental or anything... if it is I'd make certain the landlord was aware...

Wow, that's pretty scary. I hope they catch who ever's responsible. And like G said, I think it would be a good idea to invest in some sort of alarm system. Perhaps a dog too, if she doesn't have one. Very sad. But I'm glad that no one was hurt, that's the most important thing.

yep... the friend in the story got an alarm system the next day.... They have great little "doorstop" alarms intended for college dorms and other temporary locations... you just cram it under the door and it goes off if there's pressure on it.... there's a similar model that is a bar meant to block sliding glass doors... it goes off when you try to open the door...and some simple ones that work with magnets/ sticky tape on metal windows and sliding doors
